Jesus Christ, before His ascension to heaven, commanded His disciples; “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” The great commission of our Lord Jesus is to make disciples of all nations, and teach them to obey the commands of Jesus. Making disciples and teaching them to obey the Lord’s commands are the two greatest tasks for the church today.
Believing in the Lord is one thing but obeying Him is another. By believing in the Lord, we are saved but by obeying we grow into maturity. God does not want His children to remain infants forever but He wants them to grow. He wants them to conform to the image of His Son, Jesus. This is what God expects from His church. This is our goal – to be like Jesus. Therefore, we teach every believer to obey the commands of Jesus and follow His footsteps.
New Life Fellowship at New Link Road, Borivli, Mumbai is a part of the New Life Fellowship Association that began in the mid-sixties as a result of missionaries from the New Life Churches of New Zealand who came to India in 1964.
The church in Borivli had a very humble beginning. It began with three young people with commitment and fire for God, who met under a mango tree with the intention of worshipping the Living God in truth and in spirit. Slowly and steadily, the church began to grow as more dedicated people joined the group and it gradually spread to many parts of the city, rural Maharashtra and other parts of India. Today, at this centre alone over 700 believers meet every Sunday to worship the Lord in three different languages. We also have celebrations in local languages in many parts of the Marathwada region of Maharashtra.
To nurture believers by providing servant leadership to fulfill the Great Commission given by Lord Jesus Christ of making disciples of all nations and teaching them to obey what the He has taught us to do, with Passion for God & Compassion for People.
To reach the unreached with the gospel of salvation by faith in Jesus Christ.
We believe that the Bible, consisting of the sixty-six books of the Old Testament and New Testament is divinely inspired and the only infallible and authoritative word of God.
We believe in the Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His Virgin Birth, His Sinless Life, His Death on the cross of Calvary as a substitutionary sacrifice for the sins of all mankind, His Resurrection, His Ascension to heaven, His ministry of intercession at the right hand of the Father and His Personal return in Power and Glory.
We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit and His gifts.
We believe that man was created in the image of God. He fell into sin and was consequently separated from God. All men are sinners, both by birth and choice. As a result, man is under condemnation and unable to attain to divine righteousness.
We believe in the salvation of sinners purely by grace, through faith in the perfect and complete work of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary. The blood of Jesus Christ is the only basis for the remission of sins.
We believe that the Church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the Head, and in priesthood of all believers.
We believe in the necessity of water baptism by immersion for believers and also in the breaking of bread as instituted by the Lord for believers.
We believe in the resurrection from the dead of believers to eternal life and unbelievers to eternal judgement.
We believe in giving of our substance to the Lord as part of Spiritual worship. This may in turn be used for the work and support of the ministry.
