Proverbs 20:6 says, ‘Most men will proclaim each of his own goodness, But who can find a trustworthy man?’
Quite often, we share our secrets, concerns to a friend who is trustworthy. We will not reveal our confidential matters to everyone. Same is with God. Do you know God also has secrets, which He will only reveal to those who fear Him as per Psalm 25:14 “The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, and He will show them His covenant.” He had revealed His secret about destruction of Sodom & Gomorrah only to Abraham. And the Lord said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing.” Gen.18:17
In another incident, God revealed to Daniel many secret things that are going to happen in future. Daniel 2:22 says, “He reveals deep & secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with Him.”
It is very interesting to read in Ezekiel Chapter 8, how God was revealing the things of secret; i.e. sins of Israel to Ezekiel. God showed him a vision in spirit about the idolatry of people, women and 70 elders of Israel. They had kept an ‘image of jealously’ at the north of the altar gate of inner court which provokes God to jealousy and made God go far away from His sanctuary.
Further if we read the same Chapter, they had made a secret door hidden inside the wall. When in a vision, God asked Ezekiel to dig into the wall to go in, Ezekiel saw every sort of creeping things, abominable beasts, and all the idols portrayed all around on the walls, and seventy Elders of the house of Israel had censers in their hands to worship them. They thought that nobody knows what they are doing in dark inside the hidden door. But Lord said to Ezekiel “Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the room of his idols? For they say, ‘The Lord does not see us, the Lord has forsaken the land.” (Eze. 8:12) But how foolish they were! Isn’t it? He also showed to Ezekiel the door to the north gate of the Lord’s house where women were sitting and weeping for Tammuz and about 25 men with their backs towards the temple of the Lord and their faces toward the east worshiping the sun. All these things God revealed to Ezekiel not just for information sake but God wanted him to act as per His commands.
When we read further, because of the grave sins of Israel, glory of the Lord slowly was departing from the cherub of the temple to the threshold of the temple. (Eze.9:3, 10:4) Then the glory of the Lord departed from the threshold of the temple and stood over the Cherubim. (Eze. 10:18) Finally, the glory fully departed from temple and stood on the mountain which is on the east side of the city. (Eze.11:23)
It is a great privilege for those who fear God to know secrets and things which are in dark. Jesus said to His disciples in Mathew 13:11, “Because it has been given to you to know the MYSTERIES OF THE KINDOM OF HEAVEN, but to them it has not been given.” This means, if we are His true disciples then, the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven are made known to us. Jesus compared Kingdom of Heaven to a treasure hidden in a field and a pearl of great price. (Matt. 13:44, 46) God says in Isaiah 45:3 that “I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places that you may know that I, the Lord who call you by your name am the God of Israel.” If we seek diligently, God is willing to give the riches and treasures hidden in His living Word. God told Ezekiel in chapter 3:1, “Eat what you find and eat the scroll”; which means Ezekiel had to seek then only he will find and then he had to eat it. Though there were lamentations, mourning and woes written on the inside and on the outside of the scroll, but when Ezekiel ate it, it was in his mouth like honey. (Eze. 2:10 & 3:3) Indeed, when God will reveal the depth and secrets of His Word to us it will be like honey in sweetness and precious like a treasure and a pearl. But very important thing to get this treasure we need to go to Him. May God bless us with His wisdom and revelation.
