“I will restore the fortunes of Jacob’s tents and have compassion on his dwellings.” (Jer.30:18)
Dearly beloved in Christ,
Greetings in Jesus name!
God has promised to restore the fortunes of His people. When God promises this in His word, He will surely bring it to completion. We are God’s people and are very precious to Him. Though He allows us to go through trials and testing, He is concerned about us and His eyes always watch over us. He promises that He will restore our fortunes and will have compassion on us.
It is possible that some of us were disappointed by the fact that a lot of our hard labour during the past many years has been eaten by the locusts. In spite of the best efforts that you had put in during the past years, the locusts had eaten up the entire fruits of your labour. Whatever may be your loss, God promises that He will restore it for you this year. Not only that God will restore the lost fruits of your labour, but He also promises to give you a bumper harvest.
Jesus said “the enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy.” The enemy might have succeeded in stealing your money, peace at home or in the church, bringing division in families or even alienating our loved ones from us. But God is able to restore everything back to us. God promises that your fields would make up for what had been lost. “I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten.” (Joel 2:25).
It is possible that many of us have suffered complete destruction of our hard labour when swarms of locusts destroyed our crops. But the Lord has shown pity when He promised “The threshing floors will be filled with grain; the vats will overflow with new wine and oil … You will have plenty to eat until you are full, and you will praise the name of the Lord your God.” (Joel 2: 24, 26) This is a wonderful assurance that God will restore our harvest this year after the destruction caused by the locusts.
If the enemy has been very active and all your harvests had been wiped out, the Lord is pleased to shower His favour on you. God says “Never again will I make you an object of scorn.” (Joel 2:19)
God restores our fortunes with bumper harvests so that we will praise His name and never again be ashamed before the enemies.
Were you disappointed about your job, about economic crises, about not finding the right life partner, or about a long suffering sickness? God promises you that the year will bring you joy and contentment. God will heal your wounds and your mourning will turn to joy.
Be grateful to God for all His wonderful promises and enter the New Year with rededication to live for the glory of God.
Wishing you a Christ centred New Year 2017!
With love and prayers,
Pastor M. A. Jacob
