Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
In this Year of Restoration, the word of God came to us saying, “This is what the Lord says: I will restore the fortunes of Jacob’s tents and have compassion on his dwellings; the city will be rebuilt on her ruins, and the palace will stand in its proper place.” (Jeremiah 30:18)
As we enter the last two months of 2017, let us look back and examine our lives to see if we have been restored the joy of our salvation and been better doers of the Word this year than ever before. What a faithful God we have! He is not a man to lie. Indeed we have been restored the joy of our salvation as He sent His Word faithfully to build us and to help us to mature.
The heavens and the earth will pass away but every word God spoke will stand the tests of time. We are a blessed generation to have the Bible written in the simplest of language to help each of us comprehend the Scripture and understand the heart of God. So we are without excuse if we fail to mature in our walk with our Master. The Word of God trains us to live a righteous life.
As we increase in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, we will be effective and productive wherever God has placed us. So let us make our election and calling sure by adding to our faith, goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. (2 Peter 1: 5-8)
As we prepare for our Lord’s coming, let us thank God for disciplining us and rebuking us, as that shows He has accepted us as a son. Let us endure hardship as discipline; God is treating us as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? Our human fathers disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live!
God disciplines us for our good that we may share in His Holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later, however it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy, for without holiness no one will see the Lord. (Hebrews 12:5-14)
God bless you!
