Mark 10: 8-10 “The two shall become one flesh”; So .. Jesus says “They are no longer two but one flesh.” “What God has joined, let no man separate.”
When we spoke our vows… it was not just for the crowd to show off or for that particular day. We spoke those vows in Jesus’ name, His name is above all, His name is a promise and we made a promise to Jesus that only death will separate us and no man may.
Why God joins us as husband and wife?
Jesus Explained – How would you ever learn unconditional love if you were married to someone who met all the conditions? How would you ever learn: Mercy, patience, long suffering, heartfelt compassion, if you were married to someone who never failed you?
Who is never difficult with you? Who never sinned against you? Who is never slow to acknowledge their sin or ask for forgiveness? How would you ever learn grace to pour out your favour on someone who did not deserve it?
If you were married to someone who was always deserving all good things… You were married to a person who does not meet all the conditions, so that you might learn unconditional love.
The one flesh union created in marriage … is permanent until death!
“For richer, for poorer, in sickness, in health, for better or worse.” This relation is like the relationship between the Jesus Christ and the Church.
So church … God’s people let’s pray for all the couples who are getting divorced or thinking of it because divorce does not come from Jesus; only marriages and its fruitfulness can come from Him.
Our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, We ask to deliver us from temptations that we have. Lord help us not to forsake our spouse and always to keep our marriage vows. Vows were taken in Your Mighty name and may never separate us. Cancel all the divorce files against our spouses and restore our marriages, O Lord. Lord, walk with us the way you walked with Adam and Eve and made them fruitful; so shall it be done for us too. Help us to keep our love fresh and young even in our old days. We cover all marriages with Your precious blood.
